A half day wine country tour?
Yes, Napa and Sonoma are world famous, but by the time you get there from San Francisco and taste some wine, you’re going to need a whole day. We do those sorts of tours seven days a week, and it’s great...if you have a whole day to spare. But if you don’t have the time to spend an entire day, we’ve got just the tour for you. And for locals, it’s a great way to spend a fun afternoon with your friends and taste great California wines, and better yet - we do the driving! Visit 2 or 3 great wineries in Oakland and the metro area, and we’ll get you back to San Francisco in time for dinner with one of your new favorite wines.
So where are Oakland’s grapevines? Well, you’ll find them in the North Bay, but are there wineries in the East Bay? Lots of them! Good ones, too. Not exactly well-known as a “wine country”, but nevertheless is home to several good winemakers, which you will visit on this tour. Visit Rosenblum Winery, located in an old naval base in Alameda since 1987.
Start your day with a lie in, then look out for our driver between 12 and 1 pm at your San Francisco hotel’s front door. After a short history lesson while we cross the Bay Bridge, you’ll start your wine tour in Emeryville, a bustling suburb of Oakland, and then work our way down Oakland’s version of the Silverado Trail (known to the locals as I-880). Visit 3 wineries with tasting rooms by 5pm and get back to the city by 6 pm. You’ll still have enough time to nap or freshen up, or both, to get ready for a nice meal where you can pop the cork on one of your purchases from your afternoon winery tour.
This tour is perfect for people who either have been to Napa or Sonoma before and know the score and want to try a different angle, or for those of you without a full day to spend tasting wine. It’s perfect for late sleepers, and those whole like to leave the driving to someone else. Enjoy new wines in a casual atmosphere without spending time driving up north, and spend a fun afternoon exploring the alternative San Francisco Wine Country.
