San Francisco Wine Country Tours

Your journey to the beautiful Napa and Sonoma Valleys begins here.

Enjoyed the stop in Sonoma on the Muir Woods & Wine Country tour but it was too short.  LOVED Muir Woods and the Golden Gate Bridge stop. Of course we had a perfect day with
gorgeous weather that really made photo’s worth taking.

Wine Country History and Information

Springtime in Northern California’s Wine Country

Buds on a grape vine. Once the days begin to lengthen and the air begins to warm up in the California wine country, the vines respond by pushing new growth. This can be a worrisome time for growers as a late spring frost can destroy new bud growth and devastate the year’s crop. First to appear on the vines are new tendrils and fresh leaves.

Next come the buds themselves, each with a cap called a “calyptra. Once the calyptra has fallen away and pollination occurs, actual wine grape clusters will begin to form.

Spring temperatures are typically mild and the rolling hills of the California Wine Country still have their lush green winter colors, making it a beautiful time to visit and take a Napa and Sonoma Valley winery tour.
